IBTS and NYSERDA are offering the following intensive, drastically reduced-cost Home Performance Professional Certification training workshops to support specific workforce needs of the Green Jobs-Green New York (GJGNY) Program:

Level II Infrared Thermography Certification

Our 16+16 course is a two-part, ASNT-compliant program which combines 16-hours of classroom and hands-on education with 16-hours of online learning.

Our classroom segments combine theory and application discussions with hands-on camera experiments. From thermodynamics to proper level and span settings, we take a step-by-step approach to teaching the “how and why” behind each action. Through hands-on exercises you’ll learn the importance of proper camera settings and how to collect, capture, and diagnose thermal findings.

BPI-Heating and Distribution Systems Technician

In this 4-day workshop students will obtain skills on how to optimize the performance of heating equipment to help save energy and ensure occupant comfort and health and safety, and includes 2 days of hands-on application. Topics will include: Health and Safety, Heating System Science, Load and Sizing, Distribution Systems Design, Combustion Safety Science, Controls and Electrical Inspections, Ducted System Diagnostics, Combustion Appliance Vent Repair, Ventilation System Installation, Heating Appliance Clean & Tune, Post-Installation Inspection, and Tools and Equipment. The workshop will prepare students to test for the BPI–Heating Professional Certification. BPI certification and testing is not included in this workshop. This course is recognized for 7 BPI CEUs.

BPI-Air Conditioning Technician

This 4-day Air Conditioning Technician workshop will present the role of A/C and Heat Pumps within a whole-house approach to improve the diagnostic and corrective skills of students to achieve peak performance of systems. Students will learn about: Refrigerant Properties, the Refrigeration Cycle, How to Evaluate Refrigerant Charge (superheat and subcooling methods), Airflow Testing, and System Diagnostics. This workshop will prepare students to test for the BPI–A/C & Heat Pump Professional Certification. BPI certification and testing is not included in this workshop. This course is recognized for 7 BPI CEUs.

BPI-Building Analyst - Introduction to Home Energy

During this 5-day hands-on workshop, the fundamentals of Building Science, Heat Transfer and Loss, Air/Moisture Transfer, Building Envelope, Blower Door Technology, Pressure Diagnostics, Economics of Energy Conservation Measures, and other topics will be covered. This workshop will prepare students to test for the BPI–Building Analyst and/or BPI-Building Envelope Certification. BPI certification and testing is not included in this workshop. This course is recognized for 8.75 BPI CEUs.
